Jack of All Trades
How the muse talks to me:
Angus came up and said, "Hey, there's this guy I know. Lugh, master of all crafts." Angus opens up his travelling chess case and sets it on the counter.
And I replied, "So like a jack of all trades. Isn't that a bad thing? And I don't play chess."
"Not necessarily, the rhyme goes:
'Jack of all trades,
master of none,
but oftentimes better,
than a master of one.'
And you will learn chess today." Angus said.
Lucky me, I distracted Angus from his plans of teaching me chess so I could research Lugh Lamhfhada, or as I decided to rename him for this series, Lugh mac Ethylene.
Then through life's experiences Jackie Turner came to me as a fully developed character.
And I thought, 'These two. These two could find love.'
A couple weeks later Angus walked in while I was doing laundry. "But why stop at the first line of the rhyme? Why not continue? People don't just fall in love and live happily ever after. Marriages face trials and tribulations. I think there should be four books."
I looked at him, and he looked at me, and I looked at him. "Dude! I haven't even written the first book yet. How the hell am I supposed to turn this into a four book saga?"
Needless to say, Angus didn't tell me how I was supposed to do that and he hasn't spoken much about this saga since then.
